3D File Importer and Exporter¶
Importer¶
The 3D File Importer imports 3D models into an Aimsun traffic network.
The menu option File : Import : 3D File is used to import 3D models in the following formats:
- Autodesk 3ds Max (.3ds filename extension)
- Wavefront OBJ (.obj filename extension)
- Open Scene Graph native formats
- Binary format (.ive filename extension)
- Text format (.osg filename extension)
Once the 3D model is selected through the “Open File” dialog, it will be imported into the current document. It will be then be available in the 3D information window.
Exporter¶
The 3D File Exporter exports the network’s geometry into 3rd party 3D modelling software tools, which can then form the base to create rich 3D scenes around the simulation network. Subsequently, the scene can be animated with moving vehicles exported from a simulation - see the FZP exporter and the Scenario Editor: Outputs to generate: Animation sections.
The geometry exported currently includes nodes and sections.
The option is found under File : Export : Network as 3D File. Note that before exporting a network in 3D format, a 3D View should be opened in Aimsun Next. The following formats are supported:
- Autodesk 3ds Max (.3ds filename extension)
- Open Scene Graph native formats
- Binary format (.ive filename extension)
- Text format (.osg filename extension)
